Bed alarms for bedwetting
Bed alarms for bedwetting are a part of the solution to overcoming enuresis, or bed wetting, in children, teenagers, invalids, seniors and even adults. Bed alarms is a loose classification for the range of products that essentially alert the wearer that they are wetting the bed, or about to wet the bed. The overall role of the bed alarm is to detect when a bedwetter is urinating, and to alert them to the presence of urine. There are various products that fit under the group of bed alarms for bedwetting, and the better models will have a range of features that make them more suitable than other alarms. Bed alarms for bedwetting should be capable of detecting urine, while not alerting to sweat or other moisture, such as water or sweat. They should also be sensitive enough to detect the first drips of urine that the bed wetter is producing. The first type of bed alarm, is the pad alarms that fit under the sleeping surface of the bed, and the bedwetter lies on these. The detection area is quite large, sometimes up to 2 square feet. These models have a main drawback, being that they are quite away from the urine source, so by the time they have beeped, the bedwetter is often already soaked through and the bladder might be empty. The second type is the bedwetting underwear that replaces the normal underwear and has urine detecting threads sewn into the fabric. There is a separate unit that clips on and this then sends a signal to the alerting unit when urine from the bedwetter is detected. If the bedwetter urinates more than once during the night, you will need to have a spare pair of undies to put on, which can make the process more expensive than a dedicated alarm. The next type of bed alarm for bedwetting is the dedicated alarm unit that resides in the underwear, and detects the urine as the first drops are released. This is the case with our Anzacare DRI series alarms. Our DRI Eclipse product has a wireless Urosensor that sits right where the first drops of urine will be, and are the fastest way to alert the bedwetter that their bladder is full - often they are alerted before they expel much urine at all, and they can be woken and taken to the toilet to empty themselves. It is for these reasons that we rate the DRI series of bedwetting alarms, as the best bed alarms for bedwetting on the market today.
